A very warm welcome to Ugbrooke House & Gardens

Steeped in centuries of history with  stunning architecture and landscaping, Ugbrooke has been the Clifford family home for almost 500 years.

The current custodian,  The Hon Alexander Clifford,  grew up in the in the house and on the estate, he returned to Ugbrooke to take over the Family Seat in 2015.

2021/2022 Visitor Information

Following the announcement of 14th June 2021, confirming Covid restrictions are to remain for a further period of time, we have regrettably had to take the decision to REMAIN CLOSED for the summer of 2021.

Ugbrooke House & gardens will NOT open to summer visitors for 2021, we  will return to a normal summer season for 2022, offering daily visits  & house tours once again (see details’ as below).

Times & Tours

Ugbrooke House, gardens and grounds, would usually open to summer day visitors during June and July. The continuation of Covid restrictions results in considerable compromise to the overall visitor experience. We have therefore decided NOT TO OPEN this summer.

We will open once again  for house tours and garden visitors in 2022.

Open days are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 12.00pm to 5.00pm, during JUNE and JULY.

We host twice daily guided house tours, our 2022 tour times will be confirmed prior to the start of the  2022 summer season.

The Estate Office is open  throughout the year, Monday – Friday; 9.00am – 4.00pm,

Tel: 01626 852179.  E-mail: [email protected]

Wheelchair Access

Wheelchair access to the house is available;  regretfully however,  we cannot accommodate mobility scooters inside the house. Due to the  listed & historic nature of Ugbrooke House there is no lift, access to the first floor is via the main staircase or via an alternative exterior route.

General photography is not permitted inside the House for a tour although we have various vantage points within the park that feature the House exterior.

Drones are not permitted on the Estate at any time.

The Orangery

For visitors to the  House & Park our  Orangery Tearoom opens at midday, we  offer refreshments, light lunches and sweet treats. Treat yourself to a traditional Devon Cream Tea or try one of the other delicious  offerings.

Dogs

Our Labradors Tilly & Peggy love sharing their garden with other well-behaved dogs, but sadly dogs are not admitted into the House on tours (except guide dogs) – not even Tilly & Peggy are allowed upstairs. Please ensure dogs are kept on a lead at all times in the grounds and we ask you to clean up after your dog for the convenience of other visitors.
