The ChapelThe oldest Catholic Parish Church in the south west
St Cyprian’s Chapel is yet another Robert Adam enhanced masterpiece here at Ugbrooke House. Together with the 7th and 8th Lords Clifford, the Chapel evolved over time to feature a breath-taking marble apse, an adjoining Lady Chapel and Baptistry, an organ loft and the stunning cupola suspended above it all.
The Chapel is claimed to be the oldest Catholic Parish Church in the south west of England. Originally an Anglican Chapel, it was rededicated in 1673 with the 1st Lord Clifford became a Catholic. Mass has been continuously said here since 1673 and continues to this day, held every Sunday morning at 8.45am, and Latin Mass held once a month.
St Cyprian’s is also available for private ceremonies including weddings, christenings and funerals. Set against the impressive marble altar, with brilliant acoustics owing to the soaring cupola and marble walls; this setting makes for a memorable background for your special day.
